ON THE ROAD
September 8th, 2019

The Exodus story is more than a historical event in the life of the Jewish people. It's an archetypal story that teaches about human transformation.

MOSES IS BORN
September 15th, 2019
Reading: Exodus 2:11-15
The Exodus story begins with an act of courage. The women who cared for Moses in his infancy found ways to resist a terrible situation and act to save him.

THE BURNING BUSH
September 22nd, 2019
Reading: Exodus 3:1-8
Moses encounter with God wakes him from his apathy for the plight of his people. God awakens him, equips and encourages him to go back to Egypt and face Pharaoh.

MOSES RETURNS TO EGYPT
September 29th, 2019
Reading: Exodus 5:1-9
Moses returns to face Pharaoh and demand he free the Hebrews. It is in the facing of our problems and the speaking of the truth that we are set free.

CONFIRMATION SUNDAY
October 6th, 2019
Reading: Exodus 6:1-9
God promises the Hebrews that he will care for them and free them. Today is a special event for Confirmation Sunday.

THE PLAGUES
October 13th, 2019
Reading: Exodus 7:1-7
It is a dark time in our story. Pharaoh continues to resist freeing the Hebrews from Egypt but at what price?

THROUGH THE RED SEA
October 20th, 2019
Reading: Exodus 14:15-25
Pharaoh finally relents and the Hebrews flee to the Red Sea there to be trapped between the waters and the approaching Egyptian army. Moses raises his staff...

TESTED IN THE WILDERNESS
October 27th, 2019
Reading: Exodus 16:1-7
The newly freed Hebrews are now faced with a new challenge. How to live in this new context? Facing hunger and thirst, do they turn back to Egypt or trust in God?

THE 10 COMMANDMENTS
November 3rd, 2019
Reading: Exodus 20:1-19
The 10 Commandments are given to the people not to control them but to free them from the chaos of life in the wilderness. Order and discipline is exactly what this new community needs.

THE GOLDEN CALF
November 10th, 2019
Reading: Exodus 32:1-6
The Hebrews continue to struggle with trusting that God is going to care for them. In Moses absence they create a calf to worship and trouble ensues.

MOSES INTERCESSION
November 17th, 2019
Reading: Exodus 33:12-17
Moses, in a moment of humble honesty, approaches God with a request and it is granted. We see over and over that God desires our engagement.

THE MOSAIC COVENANT
November 24th, 2019
Reading: Exodus 34:27-32
The Exodus ends with a promise made by God to the people of Israel - a promise that builds upon those given to Abraham and one that lasts even to us.
