Week 5 - Tower of Babel
October 7th, 2018
Setting the scene...
This week we reach the final story in the primeval history section of the book of Genesis. The narrative culminates with the famous Tower of Babel, where an emerging nation desires to “make a name” for themselves by building a giant tower to storm the very heavens of God. God scatters this effort and confuses them. Why? Is it wrong to seek greatness? Is God threatened by human efforts? As you read this Bible passage, we encourage you to listen to the accompanying sermon audio to hear more about the context of this story.
Coming this Sunday!

Questions for reflection...
What does my name mean to me? How do I define myself? What am I working towards in my own life?
What does greatness look like?
How is God encouraging me to be great right now?
What hard work is God putting before me so that I may become truly great?
What help do I need from God today?

PRAYER EXERCISE: As Teresa of Avila said, “Prayer is nothing more than an intimate conversation between friends.” God has begun a conversation with us in scripture. In prayer, we can participate in that conversation and continue it. Personalizing scripture can lead us into a new depth of conversation with God. Explore this prayer practice this week:
