Bible Camp

January/February

Camp Minnesota, a summer camp ministry of the Minnesota Conference of the United Methodist Church is available for all ages. Campers have loads of fun, learn new skills, participate in exciting activities, and make new friends; all while experiencing Christ, Creation, and Community in a carefully supervised environment. Time at camp leads to increased confidence, character building, social skills, leadership development, meaningful relationships, and can be essential to faith formation. All are welcome at camp Minnesota, where campers are loved, accepted, cherished, and encouraged to grow into the people God created them to be.
As a United Methodist Congregation, we would like to help all our kids who would like to go to camp this summer. In January and February the CanDo Mission will be to offer Camp Scholarships for the kids to attend camp.

UMCOR

July/August

As the humanitarian relief and development arm of The United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Committee on Relief – UMCOR – assists United Methodists and churches to become involved globally in direct ministry to persons in need. UMCOR comes alongside those who suffer from natural or human-caused disasters – famine, hurricane, war, flood, fire or other events—to alleviate suffering and serve as a source of help and hope for the vulnerable. UMCOR provides relief, response and long-term recovery grants when events overwhelm a community’s ability to recover on their own. UMCOR provides technical support and training for partners to address emerging and ongoing issues related to disaster relief, recovery, and long-term health and development. Additionally, UMCOR supports migrants through legal and humanitarian support, as well as through global advocacy.

Baiwalla.jpg

Baiwalla

September/October

In 2014, rev. Judith Banya returned from living in the United States to her hometown of Baiwalla, Sierra Leone to begin various ministries to help her people. Baiwalla is an extremely impoverished community where people mainly live on income of approximately $1.50 a day. Nutrition, education, and clean water are high priorities for developing self-sufficiency in Baiwalla. With the help of OC Ministries and United Methodist churches in Minnesota, Rev. Judith has installed a well, built a mission house, started a new church and satellite churches in smaller villages, started a school food program that feeds 900 children per day, established an adult literacy program, and launched the construction of a junior and senior secondary school. The Baiwalla ministry needs lots of financial support in order to give all the children an excellent education and pay their teachers a decent salary.
